Why no portal is a design decision, not a gap
Many traditional compounding pharmacies operate without a web portal because the clinical relationship — pharmacist and prescriber — is the core value. VLS's model emphasizes high-touch pharmacist collaboration on sterile and non-sterile formulations, custom compounds, and integrative medicine protocols. A fax-and-phone workflow reflects that priority: every Rx is a direct clinical communication, not a cart checkout.
The trade-off is that all patient-facing communication is handled by the clinic. When a patient asks where their GLP-1 refill is, the clinic calls VLS, gets an update, and relays it to the patient. When a patient's protocol changes, the clinic generates a new Rx and sends it. The clinic is the operational layer between the pharmacy and the patient.
