- Patient record created firstThe Add New Patient workflow must be completed before submitting any order. LifeFile requires a patient record in the system before a prescription can be submitted on that patient's behalf.
How access works

- 02Submit New OrderUse the Submit New Order workflow to send the initial prescription. The prescriber must sign off on the order. If the prescription includes controlled substances, EPCS compliance requires the prescriber's individual credentials for electronic sign-off — staff cannot sign on the prescriber's behalf for controlled orders.
- 03Submit ezRefill for subsequent ordersFor returning patients whose prescription parameters have not changed, use the Submit ezRefill workflow. ezRefill streamlines the reorder process without requiring a full new prescription submission. Common access issues
Submitting an order before adding the patient
LifeFile requires the patient record to exist before an order can be submitted. If you try to submit without completing Add New Patient first, the order will fail. Always run Add New Patient before Submit New Order for any first-time patient.
Ordering through the wrong portal
The four LifeFile portals — Colorado, AZ/FL/WI, Kansas, and Belmar Select — are separate systems. An order submitted through a portal that does not match your enrollment pharmacy will not route to your fulfillment location. Confirm the correct portal before submitting.
